Democrats to Republicans: Please Give Us a Rick Santorum Nominee

After the Iowa Caucuses and with Rick Santorum pulling in a very close second, we Democrats see a chance of having a candidate that our beloved president Barack Obama can beat into a pulp (not literally speaking of course) when the presidential debates begin. Former U.S. Senator Santorum will be a great deal of fun for us liberals, as we well know that American voters will not put someone who is so extremely conservative into the White House. So please Republican primary voters; give us a Rick Santorum nominee.

Now I’m sure Old Rick thinks he has a chance to become president; yeah sure, if he can manage to rig the polls in his favor because that’s the only way. His views on gay people, abortion, health care and foreign policy, is so far to the right of most American voters that Republicans will know long before the election in November that they dropped the ball when they nominated Santorum.  I think most of the Establishment-Republicans already know this and that’s why they’re pushing for a Romney nomination; any other candidate would have no chance at all beating Obama. In my opinion, neither can Mitt Romney but he’s the only one who’d even stand a chance, and that’s only if things go south for Obama in the next year.

Let’s start with one of Rick Santorum’s biggest weakness and that’s his over-the-top view on gay people and gay rights.  He has said things in the past that puts him in the very extreme category. Rick Santorum has compared homosexuality to polygamy, bigamy and incest. He has spoken out against gay marriage and the repeal of DODT.  He even claims that he would make any gay marriages that have already taken place, invalid.

His abortion stance is one of the most conservative among Republicans. He has made it clear he’s against abortion even in the case of rape and incest and even calls the idea of an abortion in the exception of a woman’s health “Phony”.

Health care; Rick Santorum thinks the health insurance industry should be able to discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions. He, like all of the Republican candidates for president wants to repeal ObamaCare.  He feels The Affordable Health Care Act would deny health care to the disabled, even though the law forbids insurance companies from denying health care to anyone.  He’s also supports the Paul Ryan plan to reform Medicare into a voucher system.

Foreign policy; Rick Santorum would also bomb Iran to keep them from obtaining a nuclear bomb and disagrees with Obama’s foreign policies, even though Obama has been quite successful when it comes to foreign policy. It’s of course important for a Republican presidential contender to talk tough on Iran and also against Obama.

I could go on and on about some of the outrageous things that Mr. Santorum has said in the past when it came to gay people, black people, health care and a number of other issues. But of course, there is just so much material to chew the fat on that could give anyone like me, wanting to dig up some dirt on old Rick, a bountiful supply of wing dingers.

For a lot of political spectators and wonks, the very idea that Rick Santorum even came so close to winning the Iowa Caucuses, is something we never thought we’d ever see in America, but it happened. He might even win in South Carolina; who knows, crazier things have happened.

Where has the Republican Party gone if it has come down to someone like Rick Santorum placing second in a Republican presidential challenge? Of course, Mitt Romney will probably win the nomination but there’s always a chance that Rick Santorum could pull it off and be facing off with Barack Obama. Wouldn’t that just be something to watch?

I have to say though; I believe Rick Santorum thinks he can actually become president and the reason why is because he actually thinks most Americans think like him, meaning all the polls concerning so many issues are just “Phony” like the idea that a pregnancy could endanger a woman’s life. He is a hardcore conservative; no one doubts that for sure; which says he’s not Mitt Romney who happens to be the biggest “Phony” out there and switches positions more often than some folk change their underwear.

So I beg of you conservative Republicans, get out there and vote for Rick Santorum so we liberal Democrats can have ourselves some real fun time come debate time with Barack Obama. And, we can then relax and take it easy because we know for sure that our president will win another four years in the White House.
